The name Zuperpolis combines Zuper (a zesty twist on ‘super’) and Polis (the Greek word for ‘city’).
Long Version
As of 2025, ~45% (3.7 billion) of the world’s 8.2 billion people live in cities worldwide. The figure rises to ~81% (6.6 billion) if you include towns.
Against a projected 2050 world population of ~9.7 billion, those shares grow to ~48% (4.7 billion) in cities and ~83% (8 billion) including towns.
Cities, which already generate ~80% of global GDP, will face unprecedented demands to keep up with this growth.
The Foundation
Zuperpolis rests on a single foundation – transformative technology in service of cities built to last.
We say Technology rather than Artificial Intelligence (AI) specifically, even though AI is the technology of the moment. AI will eventually percolate into almost every aspect of our lives, much like the internet or the smartphone before it. It’s only a matter of time before other transformational technologies emerge and find their place in Zuperpolis.
The best technology is the kind that endures – shaping cities that are efficient, economically resilient, and genuinely better places to live, not just for us but for the generations who will inherit them.
The Core Pillars
Zuperpolis is based on nine core pillars – Governance, Health, Industry, Leisure, Mobility, Resources, Services, Spaces, and Beyond.
These pillars are derived from and linked to the needs of the urban population.
The Guiding Philosophy
In Zuperpolis, we believe in Meliorism and Protopia.
Meliorism is the belief that the world can be made better by human effort. But merely thinking about meliorism won’t suffice. We need to act. To do that, we need to adopt the concept of Protopia.
Protopia means incremental progress in small but regular and persistent steps toward improvement. It isn’t a magic pill and doesn’t promise a perfect tomorrow. Instead, protopia endeavors to build a better tomorrow – which we hope Zuperpolis inspires everyone to do.
